Emma's Soiree - Soiree Is French For Party

Emma decided she wanted to have a Fancy Nancy Party for her 6th birthday! I have to say this has been one of my favorite parties to plan.  What girl doesn't love getting fancy! It got pretty fancy at the McDonald house this weekend!

The invitations were sent!

The table was set. I covered the chairs with white plastic table clothes from the Dollar Store, wrapped some tool around them and finished them off with a flower and a boa.  We covered the table in boas, pearls and a fancy girls center piece.  Emma really wanted little name cards by each plate and I found these darling glass slippers at the Dollar Store and filled them with M&M's.

Emma loves Fancy Nancy books! She loves dressing fancy and girly and she loves a party! So let's just say she was more than excited for her party!

LET'S GET FANCY!
We had a table all set up with flower hair clips, pearl necklaces, fancy rings and tieras for the girls to get fancy.

The girls got fancy in a flurry with  a lot of giggles! They had fun picking out all their goodies to get FANCY before lunch!

Alexa started a trend of clipping a flower on her tiera

Emma and I had fun deciding on the menu for her fancy lunch.  We had little fancy sandwiches, chips with fancy dip, a fancy fruit mix, chocolate covered strawberries and marshmallows dipped in chocolate and sprinkles.

It was so fun to sit back and watch the girl eat and chat! You could tell they felt like little princesses dressed all fancy and eating their fancy lunch! They especially thought their real fancy glasses and pink straws were a real treat! Most of them had never had a chocolate covered strawberry as well!

Some fun pictures from their lunch!

After lunch the girls made some little notebooks fancy while I painted their nails and added flowers or a little bling to them.

We then played Musical Chairs and when the girls got out they were able to grab their treat bag and look through it.

It was so easy to find some girly, fancy things for their treat bags.

We then headed to the table to make our Parfaits.  Parfaits is a fancy word for ice cream sundaes.  There was marshmallows, chocolate chips, M&M's, sprinkles, chocolate, caramel, whip cream and of course a cherry for the top.

We added 6 candles to Emma's Parfait and sang "Happy Birthday!"

Shane got fancy and joined us for a Parfait!

We then opened gifts and I read the girls the book Fancy Nancy and the Posh Puppy.

Here are all the fancy girls saying Ooo La La! Thanks girls for being special friends and making Emma's day special!

Shane's Art Show

This weekend Shane had his Art Show at preschool! He was so excited to show us the things he has been working on! He loves it that the girls get so excited to go visit his preschool with him.

All week Shane has been talking about the Tea Pot he has been working on.  I couldn't wait to see what he had created! What a great Tea Pot Shane!

Shane's class also drew pictures that were then made into an apron.  A little girl in his class has a very talented mommy who has a little girls clothing line and she sewed their drawings as pockets on darling aprons.

Shane's final art masterpiece on display was a painting!

There were various art stations that the kids could do.  Emma enjoyed making a Valentine's Day card.

Shane decided to forgo the sewing station and make up his own craft which was gluing pom poms to make a heart instead.

Alexa had fun sewing!

Shane was showing Eric how he could draw a heart and then cut it out.

Daddy helped shift the paper a little.  Shane and Eric stayed at the Art Show and painted a tile that was going to be part of a wall at his preschool.  The girls and I took off for home to get fancy.  We had a couple things to get ready for Emma's Fancy Nancy Party that was right around the corner!

Shane Is Off To College

Shane was so excited to go to college on Friday.  His preschool class has been learning about and working with clay lately.  Their class got to go to college to visit Professor Punt and have a little class on clay from an artist.

The kids loved watching Professor Punt work with the clay!

The watched intently as he began to throw the clay!

He got oohing and an applause when he was finished.

We then walked over to Ben's wheel and watched him for some clay pieces using a Japanese technique.  He went to Japan for a year and learned from a family that had been making clay pottery for 16 generations.  He talked about how it originated in China.  Shane heard China and his ears perked right up.  He began telling Ben about his little brother in China!

Another piece of pottery Ben made for us!

They were mesmerized by Ben!

We then headed over the Art Gallery to check out the art!

Shane had a fun day at college and I am glad I was able to tag along!

Happy Birthday Emma

My Sweet Emma,
I can't believe that you are 6 today! I feel so blessed that God has picked me to be your mommy! As hard as it is from me to see you grow up and turn one year older it has been so much fun to see you grow this past year.  There are so many things that make you our sweet Emma and here are a few ....

You love life and life it to it's fullest!  You seem to attack life full on and enjoy everything about it!

You have such a sweet bond with your brother and sister.  You are a wonderful big sister to Shane and he loves it when you play trains with him or house with him.  You and Alexa love hanging out together.  You care about each other and never get tired of playing together.  I can honestly say you don't fight but instead look out for each other and compliment each other so well.

You love your daddy!  You love spending time with him and going on special dates with him.  You love to play rough and tough and then turn around and cuddle on his lap!

Your smile lights up a room.  People are drawn to your personality.  You wake up everyday with a big smile on your face ready to face the day!  You are kind and compassionate and hate feeling like you are letting your mom or dad down.

You are a girly, girl and love being pampered! You love having pretty nails and some lip gloss on your lips!

You love to dress up as a princess and have tea parties.  You always say you feel so beautiful! You are beautiful my sweet Emma on the inside and the outside!

You are our fashion queen.  You pay attention to what is in style and have a definite opinion about what you want to wear!

You played soccer for the first time this fall.  You approached it in true Emma style.  You thought it was so much fun but really loved the outfit and made sure you had a bow to match!

You have always been a doll lover. You still play house a lot and love being a mommy! I know you are going to be such a good mommy someday!

You love using your imagination and dressing the role when you pretend play.  You become a chef when you are cooking, you put your heals on and turn into a teacher when you do school work and of course you love being a princess.  You can often be found in some type of dress up clothes.

You have a sweet bond with your sister.

You love being a ballerina! It is right up your alley and you wish you could go to ballet every day!

You love going to school.  It has been fun to see you grow in so many ways already this year.  You love to read and are so proud that you can read big books like Alexa now!

You are our beautiful blue-eyed girl who has a heart for others.  I love listening to you pray at night.  You wear your heart on your sleeve!

Emma this picture makes me think exactly who you are.  You love life, you attack everything with excitement, you always have a smile on your face, you love new adventures, you are carefree and you are full of energy.  I pray that God continues to mold you into the girl he wants you to be.  I pray that you have confidence to know you can do anything you sent your mind to.  I pray that you know that with God by your side you will soar in life.
I love every ounce of you sweet girl!
Happy Birthday

Go Chargers Go

Tonight the girls were so excited to cheer at halftime of their school's girls varsity game.  They did a little cheer camp and then performed during the big game.  They were super excited for the big performance.  They were especially excited because their school was playing my old high school team and my brother coaches that girls varsity team.  So papa and grammy were there to watch as well.

They were anxiously awaiting the  clock to run out so they could take the floor!

This of course is right up Emma's alley so she couldn't wait! She especially loved the pom poms they got!

This is the group of Kindergarten and 1st graders that participated.  I was so bummed all my other pictures turned out awful.  I was also a little more into watch them than worrying about pictures and before I knew it it was over.

Swimming For 100 Minutes

On Friday it was the 100th day of school.  The 3 first grade classes got to go on a field trip to a pool to swim for 100 minutes.  What a great field trip in the middle of the winter! Alexa was so excited for the big day!

Eric and I were Alexa's classes chaperons.  We were mainly in charge of making sure things went smoothly in the locker room.  This is a picture of all the 1st grade girls.

Eric and another dad got in the pool and played with the kids! Alexa thought it was pretty fun to have her daddy join her for the afternoon!

Alexa has adjusted to her new school better than I ever could have imagined.  She has such a great group of her girls in her class.  She has a large group of friends but these two girls are usually by her side.

There was a water slide the kids loved!

This is what Eric looked like most of the afternoon!

Alexa was trying to protect her daddy from all the boys!

Taking a little break!

Jumping back in for some fun! The kids had such a fun afternoon! I am glad Eric and I could be part of the 100 Day Celebration!
