Dance Recital Time

The girls have loved dance again this year.  In the past they have been in different classes so this year they thought it was pretty fun to be in the same class.  The often were practicing their routine and dancing around the house or the yard.

They were very excited for the big Recital.  They always have a few nervous jitters being on stage but love anticipating the big day.  There is always a buzz in the air backstage as everyone is getting ready.

When everyone is ready they all wait patiently for the big event. They play games, watch movies, color, read books or just chat with their dance friends.

Their personalities shine through when they dance.  Alexa is a very serious dancer and Emma just can't wipe that smile off her face!

I am not sure if dance is something they will continue but they have loved their experience and we will continue to support them and let them grown and blossom in the opportunities they have in front of them.

The Nutcracker Ballet

The excitement was elevating as the weekend for the Nutcracker drew near.  The girls have worked hard all fall learning their routine for their big debut.  We went to the Nutcracker their ballet studio puts on 2 years ago and the girls loved it.  This year they got to take part in it and could hardly wait.

They were there early to get their make up done!

In one of the girls performances our friend Tessa got to ride in the sleigh!

The girls spent time watching Christmas movies, coloring, reading and having fun with dance friends while they waited for their big debut on stage!

In costume and ready to go!

I loved how their personalities shine through even on stage! Emma came bouncing on stage with a grin on her face you couldn't wipe off if you tried.  You can tell she is just having a blast.  She did say she was pretty nervous though but by her smile you would have never known.

Alexa came on stage with a smile but a more serious demeanor.  She was concentrating on her every move and every move was spot on! She loves dance and has really learned a lot this year and takes all her moves and poses very serious.  She is often dancing around the house practicing her steps.

It was so much fun to see the girls on stage!

Their dance studio did an amazing job putting on a wonderful show!

Emma loved when the Sugar Plum Fairy came out!

Emma bowing before she exited!

Alexa was the last to leave the stage!

It was such a fun experience for the girls.  I am so proud of them!

Alexa's good friend Reagan was Claire.  She was beautiful and did an amazing job!

Papa and Grammy and the girl's cousins came to see one of their performances.  The girls were excited to have special people in the audience watching them.

It was a great way to kick of Christmas season at our house! It is starting to feel a lot like Christmas.  We just need a little snow now!

Two Ballerinas

The girls loved dance last year and waited patiently to see how Max adjusted before we jumped back in for the spring recital.  The girls were very excited to be part of dance again.  This year they were in a class together which made it easy for all of us.

Alexa continued to improve on the base that she built last year and was very precise as she practiced her moves at home.

Emma was excited to be in Alexa's class but was a little nervous as it was harder and the expectations were greater.  She rose to the occasion and worked hard and asked Alexa to practice with her when she felt like some of the moves were hard.

My brown eyed girl!

My blue eyed beauty!

I loved watching these two sisters work together this year and grow in the process.

It is always fun to see all the girls getting ready for their big performance.  Their is excitement in the room!

The girls were with their class doing different activities until it was their turn to be on stage!

Grammy got to sneak back stage and see the girls before their big performance.  The girls were a little nervous because they had the wedding the night of rehearsal so didn't get to practice on the big stage. I was a little bummed because I didn't get a chance to video their performance or take pictures of their group because you can only do that during rehearsal.  The girls did great and didn't look a bit nervous.

They got hugs and kisses from papa when they were done!

They loved their flowers from their daddy!

Great job Alexa and Emma we are so proud of you!

The Girls On Stage

The girls took ballet for the first time this year and they loved it. They kept hearing about the big recital each week at dance as they practiced and perfected their dance. Then the costumes came out to be fitted which made them even more excited. It wasn't until they got to rehearsal that they finally got the picture of what a recital was going to be like. They were going to be in the big Orpheum Theater on the big stage. They were so excited but also had butterflies in their little tummies as they anticipated their time on stage.

The girls costumes and songs totally fit there personalities!

This picture was all the little ones in costume waiting patiently for the recital to start.

My last picture of Alexa and a kiss for good luck before I headed out to my seat in the audience.

Emma and her friends getting their jewelry on.

My cute little red robin ready to go!

Emma did such a great job. She said she was a little nervous and of course what she loved the most was her outfit. Do you blame her?

Emma during the curtain call with a big smile!

Alexa in her little maid costume for "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast.

I thought their costumes were darling. I love the fact that their dance studio recycles costumes from year to year so we just rent them instead of purchase them.

Alexa being the driven little one she is would get home at night after dance and practice all her moves. You could tell because she was on the entire routine.

Alexa said she had so much fun but she was shaking the whole time because she was nervous!

Alexa with a grin and sigh of relief during the curtain call.

The girls did such a great job and we were so proud of them. They were excited when they were handed flowers from dad after their performance. Papa and Grammy came to watch the big show so we headed to lunch with them to celebrate.
